María de los Angeles Calocarivas was born in Tepic, Nayarit (Mexico) where she completed her studies and graduated as a primary school teacher. She joined MI in 2016 and is dedicated to assisting youth and adult participants in their academic journeys. In her early years as a teacher she worked in Puerto Vallarta where her passion for education flourished. She eventually prepared herself to become a middle school and eventually high school teacher. Already married and with the support of her brothers, she arrived in the U.S. in 1990. She held different jobs as a Mexican immigrant over the years but her desire to go back to the area of education she became a private Spanish tutor while studying for and passing her GED exam. She is a Chabot College graduate certified to teach in education institutions and is MI’s Educational Programs Manager.
